In Key Stage Two we have certiain written methods for solving division problems. Use these videos to help you with division questions, whether you're at school or at home!
Chunking (also called 'long division') breaks down a number into more managable chunks, and is solved by subtraction rather than division. The video below has a number of examples you can work through:
Chunking with a remainder
This method also works when finding an answer that will have a remainder. It can also be used for dividing by less familiar times tables. Watch the video below to find out how.
Once you're confident with chunking, the next step is short division (sometimes known as bus stop method). Knowing your times tables is absolutely key at this stage. Watch this video below for a walk-through.
