In Key Stage Two we use two particular written methods for multiplication. These videos will help you follow those methods, whether working at home or at school.
This method is used throughout Key Stage Two. The key step is partitioning the number into its different values. In the example below, 23 is paritioned into 20 and 3.
This method is particularly used in Years 5 and 6. No partitioning is needed, but it needs a strong understanding of place value. It works in a similar layout to column addition.
