This week our cacoons have blossomed into beautiful buttterflies! First thing on Monday morning four butterflies hatched and then during morning play another butterfly hatched.
We are still waiting to see if five more butterflies hatch.
We are trying to make their home into a more natural habitat and we will do this by placing flowers at the bottom of their net. We will also feed them fruits and sugary water and this will imitate the nectar that they would have from the wild.
We will be able to watch and study our butterflies before we release them into the wild. Our butterflies are painted lady butterflies and have a lifespan of around 2 to 4 weeks.
